Puppy and Companion Dog 1
This is the first step for your dog’s obedience training. Not only will you, the handler, learn vital skills you’ll use for your dog’s whole life, your dog will gain that all-important socialisation (and learn good dog manners!)
Puppies and CD1 classes do the same basic curriculum, however CD1 is for dogs that are more than six months old. This means that young puppies aren’t trying to learn around boisterous adolescent (and often much bigger) dogs!
You will learn how to teach your dog to:
- walk comfortably next to you on a loose lead
- respond to hand signals and verbal commands
- sit and lie down on command
- come when called so you can reattach its lead
- refuse food placed in front until told to eat
- ignore a friendly stranger
